What I Saw: Staircase

We were greeted by the sweetest volunteer who was eager to share his knowledge of the building and it's history. He was indeed a true Southern gentleman. I do so miss hearing that drawl and worry that I will someday completely lose mine.

When I was younger I tried desperately to loose my drawl. Now I listen to some of the older ladies who have that accent that is uncorrupted by tv and marvel at why I wanted to loose mine. Now they are suggesting in college that you "refine" your accent as not to sound "ignorant".

The accent does vary in the different areas of state and among the social groups. I'll have to say the refined Southern accent IS more pleasant to listen to. I think the proper use of grammar goes a long way toward removing the association of ignorance, that and a good slap up side the head to about 99% of the entertainment industry.

You got some beautiful photos. I swear that man looks just like Andy Griffeth!

You know Jennifer, I hadn't thought of that but he does look a lot like him. I still think of Andy Griffith like he looked when he play Sheriff Taylor, not Matlock!
